What is the difference between silk and satin?

Silk is a natural protein fiber produced by silkworms. Thus undyed and unprocessed silk is a completely natural and biodegradable fiber. Silk is a more time-consuming fiber to produce. Thus it is more expensive and luxurious. While silk is delicate yet durable, strong but breathable.
Whereas satin is sythetic, made from polyester and nylon which are derived from petroleum or oil. Therefore, satin is not environmentally friendly to produce. While its price is slightly cheaper than silk, satin is more difficult to care since it can stretch or shrink easily in water.

Why is silk called the queen of fibers?
Unique Sheen and Luxurious
The silk fiber is a long smooth triangle; it can refract the light at different angles. Thus the color of silk products can change as the angle of the light changes, which gives silk products unique sheen-shimmering appearances. The soft, smooth, and shimmering features give its luxurious appearance and feel, making silk the most beautiful fiber on the earth.
Good for Skin
The smooth touch of silk reduces friction on the skin and minimizes sleep creases. On the other hand, thanks to a natural protein in silk, skin metabolism speeds up. Besides, silk is known for its hypoallergenic properties. Thus it’s the ideal choice for those with sensitive skin.
Bring Quality Sleep
Silk can regulate temperature. Thus silk lets you warm and cozy in winter and keeps you comfortably cool in summer. You will always wallow in a fresh comfort throughout the sleep. In the meantime, silk contains 18 kinds of natural amino acids that are named ‘the sleep factor.’ Those trick the nervous system into a relaxing state that triggers your sleep mode.
What' s the difference? Real silk VS Fake silk
Check the Luster
Silk is especially known for its luster, which cannot be replicated. The color on the surface appears to change with the angle of the light. However, Fake silks only show a white sheen no matter the angle of light falling on it.
When rubbing silk, real silk sounds like walking on fresh snow. Besides, you can identify it from the temperature. Fake silk will leave a cold sensation on your skin while real silk will make you feel warm when rubbing it.
